To deter present and future threats to our drinking water, wildlife, wetlands and recreation, we commit to diligent efforts to protect Eagle Creek Reservoir and its watershed.
Today it’s LEAP, tomorrow other threats to our water resources may arise.
DonateEagle Creek Preservation, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) tax exempt entity dedicated to protecting, preserving, and enhancing the environmental integrity of the Eagle Creek Watershed, which includes the Eagle Creek Reservoir. We strive to safeguard one of Indiana’s most valuable natural resources through advocacy, stewardship, education and community engagement. Our vision is that clean water, abundant wildlife, and protected natural landscapes can, and must, coexist with responsible community growth throughout the Eagle Creek Watershed, ensuring lasting environmental and economic health and public enjoyment.
Eagle Creek Reservoir is also a drinking water source for thousands of residents in the north and west suburbs of Indianapolis. It is the ecological core of one of the country’s largest municipal parks, about 5300 acres. It includes precious wildlife, wetlands, 30 miles of maintained hiking trails and is also an oasis for boating, kayaking, birding and fishing.
Proposed impacts to Eagle Creek Reservoir drive our current focus as we address the withdrawal of water from, and the potential release of wastewater into, the reservoir by the LEAP development in Lebanon, Indiana. For a status report on these efforts, please go to “News”. Today LEAP is in the forefront, but for the longer term, we foresee additional threats to our water. Please support our current and future efforts to challenge these imminent dangers. Click “Donate”.
